HISTORY OF PATNITOP

The name ‘Patnitop’ has been derived from its original name ‘Patan Da Talab’ meaning ‘Pond of the Princess’. Over the years, the name got its distorted form ‘Patnitop’ from its original one ‘Patan Da Talab’. In ancient days, a pond existed in the lush meadows of the region and the princess of ruling kingdom used to take bath there. It is believed that reminiscence of that ancient pond still exists in modern day’s Patnitop.
