HAZRATBAL MOSQUE- SRINAGAR
The Hazratbal Mosque is a popular Muslim shrine situated on the left bank of the Dal Lake in Srinagar. Hazrabal Shrine is also known by other names including Hazratbal, Assar-e-Sharief, Madinat-us-Sani, or simply Dargah Sharif. According to local belief, the mosque contains relics of hair of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. This mosque is considered as holiest Muslim shrine in Kashmir. Devotees from far and wide throng the shrine on every Friday prayers especially during religious occasions when relic of hair has been displayed to the public.
This is exceptionally significant for being the only domed mosque in the city, the other having pagoda like roofs. Owing to its ideal location, the mosque commands a breathtaking view of world famous Dal Lake.
