GUPT GANGA- BHADERWAH
The Gupta Ganga Temple stands to the East of Bhaderwah, located just 0.5 km from the bank of Neru River. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva but it is also known for its mention in Mahabharata. Here a stone inside the temple has a clear footprint on it and believed to be of Bhima.
An adjoining tunnel close to the temple is believed to have helped Pandavas vanish inside when they headed towards an unknown destination. Though many have tried without results and subsequently this tunnel is now closed.
Made up entirely of stones, the devotees flock to witness a stream of clean spring water falling on the Shiva Linga only to vanish a few yards away. The same string re-emerges outside of the temple and collects into a pond. Surprisingly this water is warm in winters and cool in summers. Pilgrims take the holy bath here, in this pond. Devotees consider this water as pious and holy as the Ganges.
